Learning color models

Compare HEX, RGB, and HSL representations of the same color.

What do HEX, RGB, and HSL mean?

RGB describes red, green, and blue channels from 0 to 255. HEX encodes those same channel values with six hexadecimal characters commonly used in CSS.

HSL describes hue, saturation, and lightness. It can be more intuitive when adjusting how vivid or light a color should feel.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy the color code?

Yes. Copy HEX, RGB, or HSL with one click.

Are all RGB colors possible?

Yes. Each channel can independently be any integer from 0 to 255.

How is the text-color suggestion made?

Whimivo estimates relative luminance and suggests white or dark text for stronger basic contrast.

Does this guarantee accessibility compliance?

No. Always test the exact text size, weight, and UI state against the contrast standard you must meet.
